Welcome back to the Out of Bounds Podcast on The Out of Collective. This week’s guest is the Editor-in-chief at CyclingTips.com, Caley Fretz.

Caley checks in with us post Tour De France, appropriately from a café in France.  He and Adam ask the question, was this the best Tour ever? It may not have had the controversy or a ton star power, but still scores very French rating of 4 out of 5 wine glasses. They talk about the actual race; the stages, the teams, the riders and the strategies that lead to a yellow jersey.  Caley also tells of the challenges of covering the expansive Tour from press box,  actually seeing less than tv viewers., adjusting coverage and rooting for storylines.

Back half of this episode focuses more on what makes CyclingTips a premiere content outlet for cycling.  Aside from leading the pack on European race news, Caley credits letting his staff write about what their passionate about whether it be, gear, tip, tech etc. If you’re going to do everything you need to do everything well, and that comes from creating what you’re passionate about.

Footnote: Adam also gives an update an unreleased episode that addresses the recent Mountain Gazette article, the outrage regarding PPE Loans and adds some perspective to the whole situation.
