But today he’s here to talk about Adam’s least favorite thing, running. Jeff is fresh off a 9th place finish in the iconic Western States 100. That 100 is for one hundred miles. Jeff is an ultra-marathoner. But ultra doesn’t quite give it justice, it’s flat out extreme. The Western States race isn’t a flat race, it’s pretty much the polar opposite. Starting at the base of Palisades in Tahoe finishing east to west across the Sierras in Auburn California. He and Adam talk about the recent race and Courtney Dauwalter’s course record crushing time and style. We also get inside Jeff’s mind about fighting pain and physical discomfort to push your limits to what you think you’re capable of and beyond. The mind games really seem to outweigh the physiological challenges. Jeff also shares the steps you need to start and the training process needed to complete ultras. Unlike an ultramarathon this episode flies by in just 47 minutes and is packed with great stories, information, and insight to this world of extreme running. For most of us it’s just not a headspace we can imagine but Jeff really brings us into his world in a relatable way.
