Out of Bounds – E250 – Rasputitsa Radio

Hello, hello, hello and welcome back to a brand-new episode of The Out Of Bounds podcast, right here on The Out of Collective Network. Today you’re actually tuning into the first episode of Rasputitsa Radio. Rasputitsa is an iconic gravel race at Burke in Vermont, that we are lucky enough to be partnering with. And over the next few podcasts we’ll be talking to the people involved with, attending, or racing and riding in the event. You’ll get the background of the race and get to know the people that make it so very special. So without further ado, let us begin our conversation with today’s first guest, Ian Boswell. The former road racer has taken the turn to the gravel scene, after years on the world cup circuit, even competing in the Tour De France in 2018. But around the pandemic, the path to continuing his career lead him down the gravel path. And while the roads may be bumpier, the transition has been a smooth one. He and Adam talk about that transition, the versatility of gravel, and his favorite maple cremes. Other guests include Anna and Josh from Sterling College talking gear repair at Rasputitsa, entrant Megan Owen discussing cyclocross vs gravel gearing and race nutrition, and Mike Barton’s shares his passion for technical terrain of gravel which Rasputitsa has no shortage of. Lastly, we get to sit down with race co-founders Heidi Meyers & Anthony Moccia. These two are the heart, soul, brains, and muscle behind everything at Rasputitsa. We hear from them what makes Rasputitsa more than a gravel cycling race. “It’s a homegrown self-supported challenge of the mind, body, and soul that instills people with a connected sense of place and purpose. It’s an authentic experience that embraces: The Unknown. Change. All people. All bikes.” This interview is packed with guests, info, and excitement just like the race is sure to be. Enjoy this whole interview the on the YouTube, and as always listen in full wherever you stream or download your favorite pods. And pump up your tires because Rasputitsa is just around the corner, going down on 4/29!
