This week we sat down with local legend Marcus Baranow—AKA Confessions of a Ski Bum—to chat about  his new backcountry guidebook for the Bow Valley region and all the challenges with localism, gatekeeping and zone ownership that accompany publishing a book about all the local hot spots. We also chat about sexism in the backcountry and how women and men approach learning, risk and safety differently in those environments.
