Overview

This is not just a binding, it’s a cult. People live their lives just to say they owned a pair of pivots. I’m not saying I get it, but it’s a time tested binding. Look doesn’t change the Pivot often, but when they do – they make changes that actually matter. Enter Look Pivot 2.0. None of the salesy garbage, just essentials. The new Pivot 2.0 is the Pivot 1.0 just with a few key updates to keep it current.

Din Range: 8-18

Weight: 1245 Gr (1/2 Pair)

Studio Weighed Weight:1284 Gr (half pair)

Brake Sizes: 95, 105, 115, 130 mm

Price: $479

The Din Adjustment

 Din adjust

The adjustment on the heel has always been a point of contention for ski techs everywhere, as it required a flat head adjustment, and a wide one at that. It’s now a deep-set Posi-drive. This might not sound like much, but as someone who adjusts literally hundreds of Pivots annually, I’d like to thank them for their gesture of kindness.

The Turntable

The turntable heel is what makes the pivot what it is, and the essentials haven’t changed at all. What did change however is a widening of the turntable arms so that current grip walk boots fit more seamlessly. If you’ve used a Pivot 1.0 with a Gripwalk boot, you know what I’m talking about. Now, plenty of room for whatever norm you’re trying to stuff in.

The Heel

The heel is a slightly new shape, which doesn’t matter all that much, but I do find it to be a bit more “2026′ than the old one. Additionally, Look has strategically placed rubber bumpers on the sides of the heel, so that you don’t scratch your fancy new paint as easily.

Bumper

The Brakes

Man, how we have begged, pleaded, stretched and struggled without a 105mm brake. The amount of bent Pivot 95 brakes on 102mm skis could fill a landfill. I don’t know why this took so long, but we’re all relieved.

Whomst is it For?

The Pivot is big, heavy duty, no-nonsense performance wrapped up in some pretty colors. That being said, with an 8-18 din range, it’s not for the faint hearted. Luckily, there are plenty of lower din options that may fit your needs, even within the Pivot category. Do I think it’s the best binding for lighter-weight skiers? Probably not. Especially if you’re not aspiring towards anything more than your local greens and blues. There’s just lighter, easier to use, and more adjustable bindings out there. However, if you want a performance binding, this is still the gold standard in my opinion.
