I’ve been known to be a bit of a 686 Everywhere pant stan. It’s a great pant and is extremely versatile for those of us that work a day job and need to look good but also want to get a good old-fashioned mess around in the after-hours. It is a traditional pant that can double as an active pant. The Magic Pant is the opposite. It’s an activity-centered pant that’s nice enough to show up to a formal dinner in.
Designed with the climber in mind, the Magic Pant almost feels like a pair of sweatpants, but with the durability of traditional Everywhere pants. It has a much softer hand than most pants you’ve probably worn, almost like Lululemon and Carhaart had a baby.
If you’re doing activities, mobility is paramount. These float around your legs as if you’re wearing nothing.
Someone over at 686 decided it was a good idea to inform me that they had been mountain biking in their fresh new white threads as if that wasn’t going to make me do the same. Now I, like you probably are right now, was thinking that this was an excellent way to destroy a brand-new pair of pants on my first ride. This was a shockingly incorrect assessment of the situation. 5 rides in, from muddy trails to river crossings and everything in between, no stains. Anything that did slap on to the pant pretty much either wiped away by hand or came out first thing in the wash. Shout out to DWR.
This is an easy one, go and buy these pants. ASAP. It might seem expensive, but I can assure you that the Magic Pant will become a staple in your fit deck, right away.
